Terms of Service

Welcome to Kitchen Companion. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Kitchen Companion mobile application and related services (the "Service") provided by Kitchen Companion ("we," "our," or "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Kitchen Companion. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's consent to use the Service.

2. Account Registration

To use Kitchen Companion, you must create an account using a valid email address, Google account, or Apple ID. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your account credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Subscription and Billing

Free Trial

Kitchen Companion offers a 7-day free trial for new users. During the trial period, you have full access to all features. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin.

Pricing

• Monthly plan: $2.00 per month
• Annual plan: $20.00 per year (save 17%)

Billing

Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment is charged to your App Store or Play Store account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription settings (App Store or Google Play). Upon cancellation:

• You retain access to the Service until the end of your current billing period
• No refund is provided for the remaining portion of the current period
• Your account and data remain intact; you can resubscribe at any time

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their respective refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Kitchen Companion only for its intended purpose as a meal planning and grocery list tool. You may not:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Upload or transmit malicious code
• Impersonate another person or entity
• Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications

5. User Content

You may submit content to Kitchen Companion, including custom recipes, meal plan preferences, and grocery list items ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display it as necessary to provide the Service.

You are responsible for ensuring your User Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.

6. Recipe Content and Third-Party Links

Kitchen Companion provides links to recipes hosted on third-party websites. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites. Your use of linked websites is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

Meal plan suggestions are generated by AI and are for informational purposes. They do not constitute medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Always consult a healthcare professional for specific dietary needs or concerns.

7. Household Sharing

Kitchen Companion allows you to create or join a household to share meal plans and grocery lists. By joining a household:

• You consent to sharing your display name and shared content with other household members
• The household owner can remove members at any time
• Each household member must have their own active subscription

8. Intellectual Property

The Kitchen Companion app, including its design, code, branding, and documentation, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Meal suggestions will meet specific nutritional requirements
• Third-party recipe content will be accurate or available
• The Service will be compatible with all devices

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kitchen Companion shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kitchen Companion from any claims, losses, or damages (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

12. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app. Upon deletion:

• Your personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days
• Your active subscription will continue until the end of the current billing period; cancel it separately through the App Store or Play Store
• Shared household data you contributed may remain visible to other household members

We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you disagree with any changes, you may cancel your subscription and delete your account.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
